Encouraging more Victorians into environmental volunteering
Upstride has worked with Victoria’s Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning on multiple campaigns, social media, video production, brand and design projects to inspire Victorians into environmental volunteering
Volunteering for nature is something thousands of Victorians do selflessly across the state every day.
Upstride has worked with DELWP over 2021, 2020 and 2019 across a number of projects to highlight these amazing people and groups in a bid to inspire others into environmental volunteering.
National Volunteer Week 2021
Our National Volunteer Week social media campaign and videos featured case studies from across Victoria who were celebrated across DELWP social media throughout National Volunteer Week in May 2021.

Upstride also worked with DELWP in late 2021 to produce the brand and graphic design for its first Environmental Volunteering Manager’s Forum.
Our EVM Grow concept connected well with the client, and we lifted DELWP’s brand style guide secondary palette to produce the design style.
In addition to brand and design, we created a series of email newsletters, an invitation, presentation template and social media tiles and assisted DELWP with promotion for its successful event.
Through digital strategy and a social media campaign
In 2018, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) released its five-year plan to expand environmental volunteering: Victorians Volunteering for Nature: Environmental Volunteering Plan.
The plan’s ultimate goal is to attract 5 million Victorians into environmental volunteering activities by 2037 – a substantial increase on the 100,000 Victorians giving their time in 2018.
In 2019, Upstride was engaged to create and deliver a digital strategy that sets out a clear roadmap for DELWP to strengthen its digital presence over 2019 and 2020, and to encourage more Victorians into environmental volunteering.
We also created a social media campaign to run during National Volunteer Week, celebrating Victoria’s current environmental volunteers.
This involved the sourcing and production of a series of case studies, and the creation of a series of social media posts for DELWP channels that reached more than 174,000 Victorians in five days.
